The situation in Serbia is very tense

On the 26th, Serbian President Vucic ordered on the same day to raise the combat readiness of the Serbian army to the highest level and move urgently in the direction of the administrative line with Kosovo. According to reports, Vucic’s improvement of the combat readiness of the Serbian army is related to the sudden tension in Kosovo. On the same day, the Serb people in the Zvecan Serb district in northern Kosovo clashed with the Kosovo police. During the conflict, the Albanian police used tear gas and shock bombs and broke into the administrative building of the Zvecan district. The Zvecan district has been cordoned off by the Kosovo Police. Kosovo is an autonomous province of Serbia that was administered by the United Nations after the Kosovo War ended in 1999. In 2008, Kosovo unilaterally declared independence, and Serbia has always insisted on its sovereignty over Kosovo.

Serbia holds a large rally

At 19:00 local time on the 26th, a large rally called by Serbian President Vucic was held in front of the Serbian Parliament. Thousands of people from all over Serbia held high the Serbian flag and slogans to express their support for Serbian President Vucic. Vucic delivered a speech at the rally, thanking the Serbian people for their support. He emphasized that Serbia needs unity more than ever at this time. Vucic pointed out that for the Kosovo issue, Serbia is committed to maintaining peace at the last moment, but Serbia will not stand idly by when Kosovo Serb residents are attacked.

Vucic will resign as chairman of the ruling party

According to BBC reports, on the 26th local time, Serbian President Vucic announced a major decision at a rally in the capital Belgrade. He is scheduled to resign on the 27th as the chairman of Serbia’s ruling party and the largest party in the parliament, the Serbian Progressive Party. Vucic said that he will form a new political movement including the Serbian Progressive Party by the end of June. He started to form a new political movement in order to lay a good foundation.

According to reports, two mass shootings occurred in early May in Serbia, killing 18 people including several children and injuring dozens. After the shooting incident, protests were held in many places in Serbia, condemning the violence and demanding changes in the government and reorganization of the cabinet. Vucic announced on May 15 that he will soon resign as chairman of the ruling Serbian Progressive Party and will hold new parliamentary elections in advance. In 2012, Vucic was elected as the chairman of the Serbian Progressive Party, and in 2017 he was elected as the President of Serbia for the first time. In the presidential election to be held in 2022, Vucic won re-election for a five-year term.

The trade volume between China and Serbia 

A few days ago, according to data from the Serbian Bureau of Statistics, from January to December 2022, the total import and export volume between China and Serbia was 685.6 billion dinars, an increase of 35.0% year-on-year, or about $6.049 billion; ranking the second largest in Serbia. Among them, exports to China were 129.3 billion dinars, a year-on-year increase of 37.6%, or about $1.167 billion; ranking No.9 in Serbia’s export market. Imports from China amounted to 556.3 billion dinars, a year-on-year increase of 34.4%, or about $4.982 billion. it is Serbia’s largest source of imports.
